Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo in Plouray - 15-17 may 2009

Friday 15th May 2009: Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo arrived from Paris around 7pm. After Jetsunma offered katags, people shared tea an saffrand rice.
Today, Saturday 16th, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo started a teaching on the Six Paramitas.
In the morning, She taught about Generosity and Ethics « Shila » in sanskrit. « If we want to cultivate the garden of our heart, we need a fence ».
Then, She developed on the Five Precepts and insisted that « if all the world were keeping the Five Precepts, the world would be completely different. Actually, if Buddhists were keeping the Five Precepts, the world would be completely different. »
The Five precepts are :
- not to take life,
- not to take what is not given,
- not to speak untruth,
- no sexual misconduct,
- no intoxicant.
In the afternoon, Her teaching went on with the Paramita of Patience : « this quality of patience is one of the most important to reach Enlightenment ».
Then, She explained about anger that our « irritation and upset can be a mean to develop patience » and that it is important to make friends with ourselves, not to criticize ourselves but to have patience and accept our faults without condoning them and acknowledge what’s good in us.
Jetsunma continued with the Paramita of perseverance, effort, « working with » : « it takes years and years and years of effort to become effortless ».
After the teaching, Drubpön Ngawang showed Jetsunma Drukpa Plouray Centre. They went to the Meditation Garden for retreats and to the Stupa.
At the end of the afternoon, Jetsunma answered questions from the assembly and commented on a powerpoint presentation about her Dongyu Gatsal Ling nunnery so as to get some support. Eighteen nuns need sponsor.
Tonight, we have watched a film about Jetsunma’s life called « cave in the snow ».
Sunday 17th May, this morning Jetsunma finished her teaching on the 6 Paramitas which was then followed by a Mandala offering. This afternoon, those wishing to take refuge with Jetsunma were able to do so before the public conference.
