On this occasion, additional sacred relics will be presented to the public in the temple. An opportunity for intercultural exchange and spiritual discovery in a peaceful setting at the heart of Brittany.

THE DRUKPA PLOURAY BUDDHIST CENTRE

Founded in 1985 and recognised as a religious congregation in 2004, the Drukpa Plouray Buddhist Centre is a place of practice, study and retreat dedicated to the Drukpa tradition.
Nestled in a green setting at the heart of the Breton forest, the centre offers a peaceful and contemplative environment conducive to spiritual practice.
Since its founding, it has become a meeting place for Buddhist practitioners from France and Europe, and a space open to all those who wish to discover traditional Buddhist philosophy and practice.

The Drukpa Lineage

The Drukpa tradition is one of the principal schools of Himalayan Buddhism. It is present in Tibet, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, South America, North America and Europe, where its European headquarters is located in Plouray. Recognised for its practical approach to meditation and active compassion, the Drukpa Lineage dates back to the 12th century and has played a major role in the preservation and transmission of Buddhist teachings.

Buddhism in Brittany

Buddhism has attracted growing interest in Brittany for several decades, and the region now has several centres that contribute to its cultural and spiritual diversity. The Drukpa Plouray Buddhist Centre is part of this movement, building bridges between the Himalayan tradition and Breton culture. The arrival of the Buddha’s Relics in August 2025 brought together more than 7,000 visitors, significantly raising the centre’s profile.

The Tradition of Relic Exhibitions

The public display of Buddhist relics is part of a long tradition aimed at making the teachings and blessings of great Buddhist spiritual masters accessible to the greatest number of people. These exhibitions are considered privileged moments of spiritual encounter and cultural openness.
